HDM is the first club in the Dutch Hoofdklasse to announce a reinforcement for next season. The club from The Hague has secured British international and Olympic champion Lily Owsley (26). Furthermore, the contracts of Orange potentials Tessa Clasener and Margot van Hecking Colenbrander and of Jong Oranje player Imme van Es have been extended.
With the addition of Owsley, hdm, which is surprisingly in third place this season, continues its ambitions to participate in the play-offs.
“I’m looking forward to a new and different challenge next year. The league is competitive and a very high standard so I will be hoping to help HDM’s persist for play offs as well as improving my own game.”
Lily Owsley – Signing for HDM
Owsley is the former World Talent of the Year (2016) and has now played more than 150 caps for England and Great Britain. She experienced the golden age of English and British hockey with the European Championship title in 2015 (London) and Olympic gold in 2016 (Rio de Janeiro). Owsley entered the history books after her goal in the European Championship final in 2015 against the Netherlands.
Ivar Knötschke, HDM’s coach: “With the arrival of Lily, we can take the necessary steps even faster in the development and growth of our team and make a serious effort to compete with the top.”
