Jelle Galema returns to Oranje-Rood after three seasons

Attacker Jelle Galema (28) returns to his old love after a three-year adventure with Den Bosch. Signing a four-year contract with Oranje-Rood, the club with which he experienced golden years with winning three national titles (2014, 2015 and 2016) and the Euro Hockey League (2015).

From 2009 to 2018, Galema played his first term for Oranje-Rood, when he made his surprising transfer to Den Bosch, apparently a step back at that time. As a player for Den Bosch, Galema put herself back on the map after missing the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the 2017 European Championship in Amsterdam. In his first season under the leadership of coach Eric Verboom, he was named Best player of the Dutch big league by visitors to hockey.nl . In 2019 he made his comeback in the Dutch national team and played the European Championship in Antwerp.

His international career (76 caps) recently came to a temporary end when national coach Max Caldas informed him that he will not be selected for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

His return to Orange-Red feels like coming home to Galema: ‘I have always had a great time with Orange-Black and later Orange-Red. Both on a sporty and personal level. It’s a club where I feel at home on all fronts. ‘
